Happiness Flows outside the Wallet

  1. CancerCancer (6/22-7/22)

Sure, money might make the world go ’round, but you shouldn’t let it make your individual world go around. Focusing too much on money is not going to achieve anything. How much something costs bears little if any resemblance to how much something is actually worth, so don’t get all impressed by price tags or brand names. If you plan on doing any shopping, be very careful. Make sure you are getting your money’s worth — if not more than your money’s worth.

Very true.  I remember this one conversation with some of my officemates.  I was telling them about an incident I had with an inconsiderate neighbor.   Somehow the wind blew our conversation to renovations we did to our homes.  One told of how she had her fence raised higher than her neighbors second story house after an attempt to ask them not to build the second floor too close to her fence.  You see she feared that if it rained the roofs might serve as instant waterfalls dropping water right into her backyard.  Well, that was reasonable.

The other one told us that she had her bathroom retiled.  The plumbing was leaking and decided to redo the whole thing!  She even bought a new shower, the one with hot and cold knobs.  Unfortunately though they don’t have the machine to heat up for a warm bath - yet.  So I asked why, when there’s a whole range of hot and cold shower system she could buy at around 3k.  She retorted why should she when the one she bought cost her PhP4.7k.  At the back of my head I went, well yeah it’s expensive alright, but where’s the warm water?  Then my thoughts went to the shower head I bought the night before.  I bought it at a mere PhP200.00+ but I’m extremely happy with it already.  Verily verily I say unto you, happiness doesn’t have a price tag! =D

Blue

April 24th, 2008

i gazed upon the vast horizon

i look and look with my heart expectant

i seek joy but it cannot be found

i miss the tremor he gave my hand

i see a line cutting through earth and sky

hoping my winged creature would invade my eye

lonesome that’s what my heart has become

for my love is gone and could not be found.

When it comes to matters of the heart, you’ve got that certain je ne sais quois that really keeps them interested. Sensual and passionate, you are the type that likes to jump in with both feet or take a chance on something new without a whole lot of hesitation.

Roses are red Violets are blue Sugar is sweet And so are you. Now come closer, Love me tender, Kiss me so sweet, And my heart is yours to keep.

What Zodiac Sign Should You Be?

The planets are very complex. Maybe your astrologer will disagree, and maybe a few tendencies will vary, but overall you’re a PISCES. You’ve got that water-sign style which is characterized by an emotional and intuitive nature. You have a magical and spiritual presence, which is why Pisces people are said to be "old souls." As a Pisces, you are especially imaginative, artistic and sensitive. A loyal and generous friend, you are also known for being the quintessential romantic. You thrive on change and adapt quickly and effortlessly to new situations. But your tendency toward self-doubt and insecurity leaves you a little overly impressionable. You aim to please and hate to say "no" for fear of disappointing others. A true Pisces is a wonderfully caring and invaluable friend. You are most noted and admired for your abundance of genuine compassion.

Some famous Pisces:

  • George Washington
  • Elizabeth Taylor
  • Michelangelo Buonarroti
  • Glenn Close
  • Albert Einstein

Only one comment.  Identity crisis!  Well it got one thing right.  I was born in the sign of water.  I’m a crab - and a rabbit.  What a combination!  A book I read described a crab as possessive, and we know a rabbit has great sexual appetite.  I therefore conclude my signs spell disaster to any guy who come near me. Hahaha.  Imagine ending up with a possessive nymph?!  Kidding. i’m not any of those things - i think. **wink**

This Tickle thing really works

April 23rd, 2008

Lenore, you find love in a Mischievous Meeting A foreign affair with an exotic stranger. A surprise weekend getaway with your long-time love. These are the fantasies that fill your daydreams. When it comes to romance, your imagination and sense of adventure are in the driver’s seat. You have a zest for life that welcomes spontaneity with open arms, and you look for a partner who has the wit and wiles to keep up with you…or to lead the way, as long as you’re tripping the light fantastic together.

While you love mystery and mischief in your romantic encounters, you’re also not afraid to make a commitment to someone. You just make sure that keeping it interesting, passionate, and fun are high on their agendas, too. And that doesn’t sound mischievous to us at all.

This one says it all.  This one is really me.  It’s exactly how I’d imagined a perfect relationship between two people should be.  No one rules the other - heck doesn’t matter to me who leads as long as things work for both of us and we’re having fun while doing stuff - any stuff at all.  For me love is not just about feeling, it’s a lot about sharing experiences and creating adventure to fill photo albums and volumes of diaries.  I delight in the thought that even when i get into a mess i’m in it with someone who’d want to be in a mess with me.  Now that is the kind of person that get me weak in the knees.

Who’d have guessed I’m an AMOROUS ADVENTURER kind of Girlfriend =D

April 23rd, 2008

Lenore, you’re an Amorous Adventurer Carefree and fun, you are easily excited when it comes to new experiences — and that includes relationships. It’s not that you see boyfriends as frivolous pursuits, but you enjoy the art of the chase, and you work to make sure that long-term relationships maintain that sense of adventure and surprise. You may not be the type of girlfriend who spends every waking hour with her man, but that doesn’t mean you’re not thinking about him. You’re just an independent woman, and it’s important for you to feel challenged and creative in most things you do. That’s what makes any relationship an adventure.

That’s the result of the test I took with Tickle.  Whoah! If I were such an adventurer, why was it that someone told me I was boring?!  Then I guess it’s safe to say there must be something really wrong with him. Bwahaha!

The Benefits of Online Friendship

April 22nd, 2008

I’m once again at Netopia.  Right next to me is a girl chatting with - I think - her foreign boyfriend.  Well, pardon me for eavesdropping but it’s her fault that she’s here.  She’s distracting me as she is speaking english - which I might add  she’s getting good at.  She has adopted the american accent and her grammar is not at all bad!

By the looks of her, she didn’t go to an expensive private school.  Again pardon my bias, but based on the observation of our HR manager from the many interviews she’s had with probably thousands of applicants, those that came from such schools are the ones that have good - not excellent mind you - command in english.  So I am glad to realize that there is a benefit to be gained from long distance - virtual - relationships specially those involving foreign partners.

I still think though that it is sad that most young girls resort to such because of poverty.  Even more pitiful when the partner is as old, if not older, than their grandfathers.  I get goosebumps trying to imagine myself having an ancient partner…argh!  God bless me, I have a young husband.  I wouldn’t want to be sleeping with someone who has one foot into his grave–sorry sirs.  Sex is as important to me as love is.  I could imagine it won’t be as enjoyable if he can no longer stand to the occassion.  And with my OC tendencies I’d be completely turned off if he carries a rotten odor (oh, i’m a terrible person - so sorry - truly i am).

She’s silent now, the girl next to me.  Not a while ago I kinda picked up that the guy is wondering why she’s whispering.  At some point she asked if he’d rather have her type.  Well, she’s typing now.  Good for her, and good for me and the rest of us here in the silent room!

Well, I wish her the best of luck - with the relationship I mean.  I sort of had a glimpse of the guy and he doesn’t look too old (whahaha I’m such a snoop).  I hope it works out for both of them and may their lives -if permitted to be intertwined - be filled with so much love to last them this lifetime.

I can relate

April 21st, 2008

Now this one is really for a Cancer like myself.  I had this realization not so long ago.  Though I find it rewarding seeing that I’ve made other people happy, there are just times when it drains me out emotionally and mentally.

April 21, 2008

  1. CancerCancer (6/22-7/22)

Are you using up all of your energy trying to make other people happy? Not only is this a bad idea, it’s an attitude that will only leave you unhappy — which is unacceptable. Today, reserve your energy for your own issues, and don’t worry that someone will think you’re selfish. There is nothing wrong with putting yourself first once in a while. Your life is your journey, and if you’re never taking care to make it enjoyable, then you are doing it wrong.

Horoscope for the day!

April 20th, 2008

I came upon this today in my yahoo horoscope (not for me really ‘cos I’m a Cancer..hehe) but I really like it.  Makes big sense.

April 20, 2008

  1. AriesAries (3/21-4/19)

Some magic is going to happen to you today, but you will have to slow down in order to truly experience it. Specific details are what makes a day special, and if you whisk through things too quickly you will never notice them! When someone gives you a sweet smile, will it go unnoticed because you’re too busy checking your text messages? Don’t let that happen. Look up, look out into the world and engage. Your life is not as harried as you are making it out to be.

Anyone Else But You

April 17th, 2008

Juno_1 Watched the film Juno. Found it really engaging. The dialogue is witty. The characters are really amusing and I like the way they show how they support and love each other.

On the whole, the film was really refreshing. Got me teary eyed on the part when Juno gave birth and narrated that she and Bleeker decided not to see the baby - who from the start she already decided to give away to a couple who could really look after it as she is only 16 years old.

I was glad we saw it, along with my kids. Made them realize that teenage pregnancy is so not easy.  Though the film didn’t show the character acting totally desperate, it showed how a difficult situation can be managed with the love and support of family and friends.  Positive message. I like it.

At the end of the movie Juno and Bleeker sang this song.  Really sweet.  Do watch it.
